Professor of Law and Director of Space & Telecom Law ProgramMatt Schaefer is Director of our program. Matt graduated magna cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School. He teaches the required international law course in the LL.M. degree and has 12 years of teaching and research experience in international law, foreign affairs, national security and international trade areas. Matt has also served in the National Security Council (White House) as a director in the International Economic Affairs Office and has worked as a consultant for state governors on foreign affairs matters.
Elsbeth J. Magilton
Executive Director of Space, Cyber, & Telecom Law Programs and U.S. Legal Studies LL.M. Program
Elsbeth Magilton received her B.A., cum laude, from Doane College in 2008. She earned her J.D. from the University of Nebraska College of Law and received a concentration in Cyberlaw. Elsbeth also studied at the William and Mary College of Law Center for Legal and Court Technology in 2010, focusing on cybercrime and electronic discovery issues. Since 2012 Elsbeth has been the Executive Director of the Space, Cyber, and Telecommunications law programs at the University of Nebraska College of Law. There she oversees LL.M. and J.S.D. student recruitment and relations, research projects, and thesis proposals. Starting in 2013 Elsbeth was additionally appointed Executive Director, responsible for recruiting and development, of a new LL.M. program in United States Legal Studies for attorneys that practice outside the United States. Elsbeth also sits on the Chancellor’s Commission on the Status of Women at the University of Nebraska. In her free time Elsbeth co-produces independent film festival The Prairie Pride Film Festival, sits on the Board of Directors for local nonprofits Outlinc and MilkWorks, and is a youth mentor at Lincoln Public Schools.
